I was having a discussion with a colleague today and was considering the following:
In the beginning of Identity Management, it was all about what applications one connected with and how the connection happened. It was not uncommon for players to announce, "We have X number of connectors"
I believe that we've begun to go beyond that. It's pretty much a given that any type of IdM application will directly or indirectly support most major enterprise repositories.
In the current generation of IdM, I believe we now need to consider what we do with the IdM data and to do that we need to consider the roles of the IdM entries. So now it's not so much about how we connect to enterprise repositories but how do we organize the Identity Information with in those repositores and the applications that manage them.
